You'll find it too hard to maintain and inconsistency in brand = no brand at all. If you have crazy facial hair own it - if you always wear bowling shirts then own that - and show up with numbers on the back of your shoes... I first tweet up that I went to in Downtown Houston - I had some one walk up to me and ask me if I was that 'b-rad' guy, that event still tells me that my personal brand is working! When I told this happening to a marketing friend of mine - he flipped out and said, "Man that's like someone asking you if that's a Nike!" Branding done well gathers attention and displaces any doubt as to what it means and what's it is for! Also I'd highly recommend you to check out any of the Guerrilla Marketing book by Jay Conrad Levinson. He has an awesome book on Guerrilla Creativity using Memes that I'm reading now - it's a must!
